In the summer of 2016, Alumni360 launched its first EntreCamp, guiding fifteen middle and high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds through the entrepreneurial process. Coordinated by Alumni360 Director Genein Letford, the students learned from the top entrepreneurs in Southern California. Ms. Katrina Salazar, founder of FlourishEdu opened the week with defining the concept and traits of an entrepreneur. She led the students through idea brainstorming and assisted them in completing their executive summary for their business. Ms. Alegre Ramos, founder of EmberLiving helped the students nail their elevator pitch and create a powerful story around their product.
The students visited the president of Lakeshore Learning Stores, Kevin Carnes, and his staff at their headquarters in Carson, California. They learned product development, business structures as well as business etiquette from the amazing team at Lakeshore!
Shayne Letford from Journey29Eleven Branding reviewed the elements of branding a company and communicating a message to a target audience. The students ended the week by pitching their product to the class as well as to the Director of Entrepreneurship at Cal State Northridge’s School of Business, Mr. Ryan Holbrook. It was an amazing week and the students gained skills that will assist them in whatever field they choose to pursue in the future.
Thanks to all who was involved for making this week a great success!
